TOP 3 CONTRIBUTORS TO THE STRAND CHOICES OF GRADE 11 STUDENTS IN JOSE MARIA COLLEGE

Abstract

This paper presents the findings of a descriptive survey study that was conducted in 2017-2018 that examined the top 3 contributors to the strand choices of Grade 11 students of Jose Maria College. The survey was conducted among 105 respondents of which the researchers chose ten (10) from each 10 sections and 5 students in 1 section of HUMSS in Grade 11 Senior High School. The findings show that there were contributors that influenced the students in choosing their career preferences. Furthermore, the top 3 contributors to the strand choices of Grade 11 students are the following, family and relatives got the high percentage, next is the interest or the specialization of the students followed by the in-demand job that got the third highest percentage. Therefore, the result proposed that the parents has the biggest impact with regards to the decision making of their children, so they should monitor and encourage their children to get a career that is suitable to them in order to have a better career and a brighter future.
